Carilley Estate is a Swan Valley vineyard developed by Isavel and Laura Carija - the name ‘Carilley’ was an amalgamation of their surnames. The name was first used in 1985 to market their crop of (then) table grapes, and has subsequently undergone a metamorphosis to become a wine label, and then restaurant.
Isavel Carija first came to the Swan Valley with his family at the age of 2. He planted his first vineyard with his father when he was eight years old, and the current vineyard is the fourth he has planted. When he married, he brought his new wife back to the valley, bought a property on Great Northern Highway and immediately planted vines – before even building a house! They bought the neighbouring property (on which the restaurant now sits) in 1993, and the restaurant was opened in 2002. Since then considerable improvements have been added, and the gardens have matured into a lush and welcoming area.
Tony Reliti, our head chef, has been at Carilley Estate for about 6 years. His Italian background shows through his cooking and portion sizes. The team led by Tony are young, vibrant and passionate about Carilley and the food that comes out of the kitchen.
